Challenges of Authenticity in Science Teaching

6th Slovenian National Conference of Science Teachers

The conference was organized for teachers of science subjects and subjects with science content. The focus was on various aspects of authenticity of teaching approaches, current innovations, education for sustainable development, STEM literacy, promotion of vertical and horizontal integration of content and process competencies/skills, exchange of experiences and presentation of promising practices, and professional networking.

At the conference, an entire set was dedicated to the project ATS STEM and the project results. The participants were welcomed by the project coordinator Eamon Costello, DCU, and the experts from the National Institute of Education Bernarda Moravec and Simona Slavič Kumer presented the concept, purpose and objectives of the project. Pilot schools with examples of good practices also participated in the presentations, and a workshop was organized for teachers who would like to introduce this type of work in their classrooms.

The conference addressed more than 460 teachers.
