How can we teach for sustainability- online workshop for Haninge teachers

How can we teach for sustainability? How can we find suitable ideas for lessons relating to different subjects? Can we use role-play to access normative issues about sustainability?

A large number of primary- and secondary school teachers gathered in a digital workshop about sustainability in november 2020. The activity was planned by the STEM-network in Haninge kommun, led by Dr. Eva Hartell and Dr. Monika Persson. The workshop was led by associate professor Helena Lennholm from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and the national evaluator for ATSSTEM Sweden.

The participants used the global sustainability-goals (https://www.globalgoals.org/) [in Swedish https://www.globalamalen.se] made suggestions for e.g. school topic, projects, and laborations. Here is a link to the presentation by professor Lennholm ( https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/18omh_laCA4huWFldKTfE3fYKATHZ3Tnv3U_upae43DM/edit#slide=id.p1

They also got to work with role-play to explore and scrutinise their values and critical thinking skills using the boardgame Dilemma https://snowflakeeducation.com/collections/educational-board-games-for-sustainability-education .

The 30+ participants were very happy with the experiences in the workshop, and asked for even more clear lesson-tips about sustainability. Thus- next time we will focus on sustainability-lessons for specific subject areas.
