Dublin City University is not only one of the largest Universities in Ireland but also one of the fastest growing. The multi campus university is the highest ranked Irish university in the Times Young University rankings and has a well-earned reputation in educational research with special emphasis on STEM. Dublin City University has the largest faculty of Education in Ireland within its Institute of Education. With internationally recognised experts in STEM, digital learning, policy, curriculum and pedagogy, assessment and teacher education, the Institute provides a learning environment that is student-centred and inclusive.

Goals

Being the project coordinator, DCU will have an essential role in all the work packages. It will take a lead role in WP1 & WP2 which will set the groundwork for the project implementation. To realise the ambitious scope of this proposal, and to lead both work packages, one and two, the University will leverage skills and expertise from across three major research centres within the University:

1. The Centre for Assessment Research, Policy and Practice in Education (CARPE) which was established by Prometic Chair of Assessment, Professor Michael O Leary, will play a lead role in WP2.
2. The Centre for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning (CASTEL), under its Director Associate Professor Eilish Mcloughlin and with Professor Deirdre Butler, will play a lead role in WP2.
3. The National Institute for Digital Learning via Dr Eamon Costello and Professor Mark Brown will play lead roles in both WP1 and WP2.

DCU will also play a key role in WP3 CPD where it will utilise its experience and technology in the design of blended and online learning.

In addition, Dublin City University will play a lead role, along with H2 Learning Limited with whom it has worked on delivering several large funded projects, to provide the leadership, oversight and operational management to ensure that the project is successfully delivered and meets its targets. The University has an established and substantial research finance support office that has expertise in European funding application, management and accounting whose staff will be directly involved in supporting this project.

DCU also offers excellent conferencing facilities and will therefore host the final project conference thus ensuring a good value-for-money.
